During this evening, Prouvost will perform Deep See Blue and talk to Martha Kirszenbaum. Alongside the excerpts from Eye’s collection, Prouvost’s own films They Parlaient Idéale (2019) and Dit Learn (2018) will also be screened.

Occasioned by the exhibition at the Bonnefanten, Eye invited Laure Prouvost to take a dive in the collection. Together with Martha Kirszenbaum, the curator of Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre, she selected short historical films and excerpts connected to her own work featuring magic, the world underwater, Venice and the surreal Ideal Palace by 19th-entury postman Ferdinand Cheval.

EYE

The Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre project she created for the Venice Biennale is currently on show at the Bonnefanten museum in Maastricht. This centres on the short film They Parlaient Idéale (2019) in which a group of artists undertake a road trip from a Parisian suburb and Marseille to Venice. En route, the artist invites audiences to seek out the things that connect us despite our differences, ages, language or origin.
