Kim Zwarts: Composition Trouvées

As part of the artist-in-residence programme of the Brussels centre for contemporary photography, Contretype, the Maastricht photographer Kim Zwarts (1955) researched the genius loci of the peristyle of the Palais de Justice in Brussels, in autumn 2014. The resulting 53 photos will be presented in Hedge House, in dialogue with a selection of 14 monumental prints of the long-term America project US.0916, which was started by Zwarts in 2009 and will end in 2016. It is intriguing to see how in this photo series Kim Zwarts visualises the hidden qualities of the semi-public space with no staging whatsoever.
