Unleashed: letting powerful forces run free, off their constrains, liberated and sometimes out of control. Unleashed dogs are after their prey. The liberated human mind reveals a hidden territory, the artist brings us to uncharted zones.

Hans Lemmen en Roger Ballen - Unleashed

In a certain sense, the Dutchman Hans Lemmen (1959, Venlo) and the American living in South Africa Roger Ballen (1950, New York) are soulmates, where it concerns their shared interest in the raw and wild forces that govern us. They create powerful mythological creatures and various symbolic and non-symbolic animals, which form a reflection of our fragile civilisation. For Unleashed, the artists stepped out of their comfort zone and entered into an experimental collaboration in order to create new work. Blending together photos and drawings, both artists experimented with new techniques, compositions and materials. The visitor goes on a journey through this daring creative work process and discovers both the new joint work and the individual work of the two artists. The exhibition was created in collaboration with guest curator Jan-Philipp Fruehsorge and Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, in Paris.
