An unique artwork on your nail by Tanja Ritterbex.
What happens when you become part of an artwork? On Sunday September 6, Tanja Ritterbex will be at the museum to ‘open the doors’ of her famous Nail Art Studio. An artwork that is normally shown in silence, and without an artist present, comes to life through a performance. Tanja Ritterbex takes her place in the Nail Art Studio, and you can go home with a painted ‘art nail’ of your own.
Date: Sunday, September 6
Time: 12:00 - 16:30, time slots of 15 min each person
Location: exhibition Bitches Brew, Mama Steht Kopf hall by Tanja Ritterbex
Entrance: free with a valid admission ticket
What will you do?
In the Nail Art Studio, it is not about perfect nails or a polished beauty ideal. It is about the experience and the unexpected meeting between you as a visitor, the artist and the Nail Art Studio.
On Sunday September 6, Tanja Ritterbex swaps her paintbrushes for bottles of nail polish and nail accessories. Between 12:00 and 16:30 pm, one nail of your choice becomes her canvas. She will create nail art for 15 museum visitors, and you could be one of the lucky ones.
Beauty, social media and selfpresentation
Ritterbex is known for her colourful and expressive work, in which she looks at her own life, body and the world around her with humour and self-irony. She explores what it means to be a woman and to live up to the images and expectations that surround us every day. She does not shy away from the worlds of beauty, social media and self-presentation. On the contrary: she plays with them, exaggerates clichés and shows how absurd, funny and vulnerable they can be sometimes.
Take a seat in the Nail Art Studio and let yourself be surprised, or perhaps even pushed a little out of your comfort zone. There are only a limited number of time slots available. So be quick!
