Info & programme

Sunday 15 May 2022 is the last chance to see the major solo exhibition by French artist Laure Prouvost: Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre, in the Bonnefanten.

On the occasion of this exhibition, Laure Prouvost will converse with the Dutch artist Melanie Bonajo. Both are prominent artists who represented their country at the Venice Biennale in 2019 and 2022 respectively. The conversation will be accompanied by Martha Kirszenbaum, the curator of Prouvost's exhibition in the French Pavilion at the 2019 Biennale.

There are commonalities found in Prouvost and Bonajo their art. They create large, often dream-like installations with film and performance in which the visitor is immersed. Sharp analysis and statements about intersectional feminism, structures of power and the influence of man on the climate and the world are magically and touchingly conveyed to the audience. Questions that might come up during their artist talk are: From which concepts do the artists work? How do they view each other's work? And what does it mean to represent your country at one of the world's biggest art events? Prouvost and Bonajo will speak candidly about their work and their insights on 15 May 2022.
