Blunder along!
From 5 to 26 October, Blunderen will take place every weekend in Bunde. The festival is a co-production by artists Stefan Cools and Sandra van den Beuken (The Butterfly House Foundation) and junior curator of contemporary art Celien Govaerts from the Bonnefanten Museum. Earlier this year, the artist duo created De Weerd: mini-Maaseiland on the forecourt of the museum in Maastricht.
Blunderen is
An open-air art project with performances, artist talks and workshops on the Op 't Rentelen plot, on the outskirts of the South Limburgian village of Bunde (municipality of Meerssen; near Maastricht). Surrounded by greenery, the festival celebrates humanity's quest for a better relationship with nature. 'Blunderen' means not only making mistakes, but also having a desire to do things differently and better.
Participating artists
Alexandra Crouwers, Esther van der Heijden, Jae Pil Eun and the duo Frauke Berg en Oliver Gather.
Harvest Festival as opening event Blunderen
The Harvest Festival on Sunday 5 October is being organised in collaboration with local creators and organisations. This “green event” has something for everyone: food and drink “from the land”, workshops on scything, baking baguettes or a herb walk. There will also be a festive opening of a permanent installation by Alexandra Crouwers, followed by a workshop led by the artist.
Other weekends in October
Every weekend, one of the artists will give a performance once a day, surrounded by greenery. There will be a daily programme with a workshop or walk at the beginning of the afternoon, followed by a performance with an artist talk and drinks. There will also be a creative activity to which everyone is invited. Everything will revolve around art and failure.
